Finland being part of sweden and later part of russia belongs to the list of vodka countries. It was a common way for farms to make extra money by producing Viina (similar to brännvin) from potatoes. The finnish Market leader Finlandia Vodka came on 1970. Home production of Viina was actually forbidden on 1772 in Finland to save potatoes as food. And 1775 Swedish King Gustav III ordered state production to begin. I think finnish history is worthwhile a mention probably underneath the swedish history section as Finland was not an indipendent country at the time. 91.152.220.211 (talk) 15:37, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

contemporary russia did not exist when vodka was introduced to them, it would be wiser to say it was introduced to the Grand Duchy of Moscow instead of russia, since the contemporary state only started to brand itself as such in 1721. Raakoo (talk) 22:44, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
